Breast Augmentation
The basics on getting breast augmentation in Miami
Women who are unhappy with breasts that have always been smaller
than desired, or have decreased in size after pregnancy or nursing,
can find relief. A breast augmentation will increase the size of
the breasts through the surgical placement of saline-filled implants.
The result will be shapelier breasts with a more feminine contour
and profile.
There are three common places at which the breast augmentation
incision can be made. One is underneath the breast where it meets
the chest, another is along the lower border of the areola, and
the third is through the underarm. Body type, medical history,
and desired results all factor in to deciding the best incision
placement. You and your doctor will discuss this prior to surgery.
Once the incision is made, the doctor will have to manipulate
tissue to make space for the implant. This raises another choice
that will have been made prior to surgery - implant placement.
For reasons of shape, size medical history, and desired result,
the implant might be placed over the muscle or under the muscle.
After the implant is situated, the incision area is simply sutured
back up and the process is complete.
Breast augmentation is performed on an outpatient basis and usually
under general anesthesia. Most patients can return to work about
4 or 5 days after surgery. There is always a degree of potential
risk to be aware of when pursuing any surgical procedure. Some
related to breast augmentation include bleeding or infection, conspicuous
scarring, asymmetry, unnatural breast firmness due to tightening
of scars, and especially rarely, loss of nipple sensitivity.
