Liposuction
If areas of your body have high concentrations of fat, even if
you exercise and follow a healthy diet, you do have an alternative.
Liposuction is a simple procedure that surgically removes all unwanted
fat. There are many different areas of the body that are treated
through liposuction, but most common are the thighs, hips, abdomen,
and arms.
An incision, just big enough to fit a hollow device called a cannula,
is made at the area of treatment. Attached to the opposing end
of the cannula is a machine that combines forces with it to create
a vacuum. It is through this that the unwanted fat deposits and
liquid is removed.
Liposuction is an outpatient procedure that is usually performed
under general anesthesia. Most patients can get back to work about
1 or 2 weeks after having surgery. There is always a degree of
potential risk to be aware of when pursuing any surgical procedure.
Some related to liposuction include infection or bleeding, asymmetry,
fluid retention, a lumpy appearance in the skin, and alteration
in skin color.
The results of liposuction, if paired with a nutritional diet
and fitness plan, can be permanent.
